Reasons to Love Calgary

There are many reasons to love the city of Calgary despite the uncertainty in the energy industry and employment concerns. The real estate industry in Calgary remains healthy and will remain a city where people will always want to live and put down roots. For those living in Calgary, or considering a move there, it’s all about the carefree lifestyle. This city has everything homebuyers are looking for all wrapped up in one.
The urban lifestyle is attractive to both the young millennial looking to put down roots and even the baby boomer downsizing to a condo, Calgary has it all. One of its most attractive qualities is the ease of getting around the city on foot or bike. Walkability and easy access to downtown amenities and recreation are high on everyone’s must have list and Calgary’s diverse neighbourhoods offer this and more against a backdrop of amazingly beautiful mountain views.

The city is also attractive for those living or pursuing a more active lifestyle. The recreational facilities and opportunities in Calgary are typically offered year round and in many cases are recognized as top-notch around the world. Over 8000 hectares of parkland are nestled throughout the city on the largest network of pedestrian and cycling trails in North America. The beautiful, winding trails are well maintained, easily accessible and safe for runners, walkers and cyclists.
Over the years, Alberta has become the destination for lovers of culture and diverse entertainment, with a thriving art and entertainment scene that continues to grow. National and international entertainers perform in Calgary’s arenas and theatres and a wide variety of entertainment and recreation options reflect the city’s cultural and ethnic diversity. By 2020, Calgary’s immigrant population is estimated to approach one-half million.
Calgary has seen an upsurge in recent years with an abundance of employment opportunities, high wages and a growing economy, but that’s not what keeps people here. The people of Calgary combined with the beautiful landscape; wealth of opportunity and active communities is the reason why people who relocate to Calgary invariably choose to stay. Calgarians are some of the friendliest people you will ever meet, and the city and all it has to offer, are a strong reflection of that.
