Establishing Healthy Habits

The great thing about summer is that there is plenty to do outside. The days are long, the weather is warm and just knowing that it will soon come to an end is enough motivation to go out, be active, and enjoy the outdoors. So how do you maintain an active and healthy lifestyle as we transition into the fall? As the weather cools down, it might take a little more effort and discipline to stay active, but the results will be a happier and healthier you.


Exercise: Find something that you enjoy and stick with it!


When it comes to exercise, it’s all about creating a routine that works for you. Experts suggest that our willpower is at its strongest first thing in the morning, and slowly diminishes throughout the day as you become tired. For this reason, it’s a good idea to get in the habit of exercising early in the morning.

No matter how busy your schedule is, it is essential to make time for your health – and for yourself. Choose an activity that you genuinely enjoy – walking, cycling, or join a sports league to keep you accountable. If you don’t have an activity that immediately comes to mind, perhaps it’s time to try something new!


Create a manageable diet to stay on track, but still enjoy the things you love.


One of the most important steps to keep your metabolism on the move is making sure you eat regular meals throughout the day. If you are already in the habit of eating breakfast, lunch and dinner, don’t forget to enjoy a few healthy snacks in between meals.

Overwhelmed by a busy schedule? Don’t let yourself get in the habit of skipping meals. Depriving your body will cause you energy level to drop, make you feel tired, and actually encourage your body to store fat. Try to have home cooked meals as opposed to restaurant food as much as possible to keep your portions in check.

Staying active and eating well is the best way to look and feel great.
