Becoming a Certified Negotiation Expert (CNE)
Recently, I had the privilege of participating in the Certified Negotiation Expert (CNE) seminar sponsored by the Calgary Real Estate Board (CREB), and I am very excited and proud to finally add the CNE designation to my resume.
One great thing about the program is that the course materials are drawn from current research provided by the Real Estate Negotiation Institute (RENI). RENI is North America's leading provider of in-depth negotiation training seminars for real estate professionals. Since 2005, it has shared its knowledge and understanding of the psychology of negotiation with more than 33,000 of its graduates, including 800 Canadians who have completed programs specifically tailored to the nuances of the real estate market. I highly recommend it to those seeking to enhance their mastery of the art of persuasion.
Whether you are a novice, a journeyman or a seasoned pro, the two-day CNE course aims to provide each graduate with a higher level of negotiating prowess and a competitive edge needed in today's fast-moving market. This is not just another run-of-the-mill training session to fulfill education requirements. This innovative seminar gives its participants the opportunity to analyze case studies and real-life situations. It presents a favorable time to tackle different approaches and techniques required in negotiations, and, simultaneously, affords a better understanding of the basic psychological principles that motivate buyers and sellers.
In working through my strengths and weaknesses and letting go of some of my preconceived notions, I feel that I have greatly improved my negotiating skills. Real estate agents constantly negotiate, not only with buyers and sellers on the other side of the transaction, but also with contractors, lenders and home inspectors servicing the deals, and the respective brokers and lawyers. The ability to negotiate effectively is a fundamental tool of the trade, which will consistently allow achieving maximum results for clients.
